Terms of Service
Bulbulery · Last updated 20 August 2026
Who these terms are with
Bulbulery is published by Kwok Wai Kit, an individual, in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that person, and "you" means you.
By using Bulbulery you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the app.
What Bulbulery is
Bulbulery is an app for planning a trip with other people: an itinerary, a record of what everyone spent, and a calculation of who owes whom at the end.
It is free. There is no paid tier, no subscription, and no in-app purchase.
Bulbulery does not move money
This matters more than anything else here, so it is its own section.
Bulbulery is a calculator and a record. It is not a payment service, a bank, an escrow, or a money transmitter. It never holds, sends, receives or transfers your money, and it has no access to any account of yours that could.
When the app says you owe someone, that is arithmetic on what you and the people on your trip typed in. When you mark a settlement as paid, you are recording that money moved somewhere else — cash, a bank transfer, a payment app — after it already moved. Nothing in Bulbulery makes it move.
So:
- The numbers are only as good as what was entered. We do not verify any
amount, receipt, exchange rate or claim that somebody paid.
- A debt between you and the people on your trip is between you and them.
We are not a party to it, we cannot enforce it, and we cannot recover it for you.
- Disagreements about who owes what are yours to resolve. We have no way to
arbitrate them and will not try to.
Your account
You need an account to use the parts of Bulbulery that involve other people. You sign in with Google, and you are responsible for keeping access to that Google account secure — anyone who can sign in as you can act as you here.
Give a display name that is yours to use. Do not impersonate somebody else.
One account per device. The first account to sign in on a device claims the data already on it; a second, different account is refused rather than merged. This is deliberate, and it means you should not hand a signed-in device to somebody who will sign in as themselves.
You can delete your account from inside the app, in Settings. What deletion does and does not remove is described in the privacy policy.
What you put into the app
Everything you type, upload or attach — trip names, places, expenses, notes, to-do items, photos and files — stays yours. We do not claim ownership of it.
You give us permission to store it, back it up, and show it to the other members of the trips you put it in, because that is what the app is for. That permission ends when the content is deleted.
What you may not put in: anything you do not have the right to share, anything unlawful, and anything that would harm the people you share it with. An account used for that can be removed.
Anyone on a trip can see everything in it. Members can read and, depending on their role, change the trip's contents. Invite people you would show the contents to.
Keep your own copies of anything you cannot lose. Bulbulery is not a backup service and we do not promise your content will always be retrievable.
Availability, and things breaking
The app is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will be available, uninterrupted, free of errors, or that it will keep working with any future version of iOS or Android.
We may change how the app works, or stop offering it. If it is being discontinued, we will give reasonable notice inside the app so that you can get your content out.
Limits on our responsibility
To the extent the law allows:
- We are not responsible for money you lose, or fail to recover, from a
disagreement with the people on your trip. See the section on money above.
- We are not responsible for anything that follows from an amount, a split, or
a settlement being entered wrongly — by you or by anyone else on your trip.
- We are not responsible for content lost through a device failure, a deletion,
or an interruption to the service.
- We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses.
Nothing here removes a right you have under Hong Kong law that cannot be removed by agreement, and nothing here excludes liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Other people's services
The app uses Google for sign-in and Google Places for place search, and it can hand you off to Apple Maps or Google Maps. Those are their services, under their terms, and we are not responsible for them.
Age
Bulbulery is not for children under 13, and an account may not be created by one.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, the app will say so rather than quietly updating this page.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the courts of Hong Kong have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
